Recruiter: Bloom Talent Solutions is proud to partner with a leading provider of professional tree care and arboricultural consulting services in their search for a Senior Urban Forestry Consultant. This is a senior-level consulting role responsible for leading complex arboricultural engagements, serving as the firm's internal subject matter expert on municipal code and regulatory compliance, and providing mentorship and quality oversight to junior consulting staff.

Drive Departmental Excellence: This role goes beyond independent project management. The Senior Urban Forestry Consultant leads large-scale, multi-phase projects, quality-reviews the work of others, advises leadership on departmental standards, and helps shape the overall performance and reputation of the firm's consulting practice. The ideal candidate brings the highest level of professional credentialing, 7 to 10+ years of field experience, and the leadership ability to manage multi-stakeholder engagements while developing the team around them.

Key Responsibilities

Consulting & Project Leadership

• Lead client consultations across complex, multi-phase projects with significant tree and ecosystem impacts, including large-scale residential, commercial, municipal, and HOA engagements
• Manage large-scale, high-complexity arborist consulting projects from initiation through completion, coordinating across clients, municipalities, contractors, and multi-disciplinary teams
• Conduct complex tree risk assessments in accordance with ISA TRAQ methodology and quality-review assessments completed by junior consulting staff
• Develop and maintain comprehensive, long-term tree management plans for residential, municipal, and commercial clients
• Advise clients on tree preservation strategies during construction and development; develop detailed protection and mitigation plans for complex site conditions
• Conduct and oversee site monitoring during construction and demolition to ensure compliance with permit conditions and applicable regulations
• Prepare and review tree inventories, arborist reports, site maps, memos, and all written project documentation
• Serve as the final quality reviewer for consulting deliverables produced by junior consulting staff prior to client submission

Municipal Code & Regulatory Leadership

• Serve as the firm's primary internal subject matter expert on tree code, municipal regulations, and permit processes across all service area jurisdictions
• Maintain current, in-depth knowledge of all relevant municipal tree codes through ongoing research and direct engagement with municipal arborists
• Respond authoritatively to internal and client questions regarding code interpretation, permit strategy, and regulatory compliance
• Ensure all consulting work and recommendations reflect full regulatory compliance and flag compliance risks at the project and departmental level
• Prepare and submit tree permit applications for complex projects; oversee permit tracking and junior staff submissions through resolution

Staff Mentorship & Knowledge Transfer

• Provide active mentorship, training, and technical guidance to the Urban Forestry Consultant and other junior consulting or field staff
• Review and provide constructive feedback on work products prepared by junior staff
• Contribute to internal training programs, knowledge-sharing sessions, and the development of departmental standards and best practices
• Model professional standards, ISA ethics, and the firm's core values across all work

Departmental Contribution

• Assist the Director of Sales in developing and refining departmental processes, consulting standards, service offerings, and best practices
• Drive departmental performance through timely, high-quality project delivery, strong client relationships, and proactive identification of service improvements
• Support consulting and training sales efforts in close coordination with the Director of Sales and the ISA Certified Sales Arborist team
• Prepare timely and accurate invoices for consulting services

First-Year Performance Expectations

• Lead complex consulting engagements independently from initiation through final deliverable, at a quality level requiring no significant revision
• Establish the consulting department's quality benchmark through written work products and project execution
• Serve as the authoritative internal resource on municipal code, regulatory strategy, and permit processes across all service area jurisdictions
• Actively mentor junior staff and contribute to the long-term development of the consulting team
• Maintain timely, accurate billing aligned with project completion and milestones

Qualifications

• Formal education in arboriculture, urban forestry, biology, ecology, horticulture, environmental science, or a related field required; Bachelor's degree or higher strongly preferred
• ISA Certified Arborist® required, with 7 to 10+ years of experience in arboriculture, urban forestry, or a closely related field (construction, landscape architecture, environmental consulting)
• ISA Board Certified Master Arborist® (BCMA) or Registered Consulting Arborist® (RCA) designation required
• ISA Tree Risk Assessment Qualification (TRAQ) required
• Demonstrated management, supervisory, or mentorship experience required, including leading teams, developing staff, or managing multi-disciplinary projects
• Proven experience in construction or a closely related industry; candidates from civil, landscape architecture, or environmental consulting backgrounds strongly considered
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PC-based computing required
• Experience with GIS, tree inventory software, or site mapping tools

Physical / Environmental Requirements

• Ability to walk, stand, and traverse uneven terrain for extended periods, including job sites, wooded areas, slopes, and active construction sites
• Ability to bend, stoop, kneel, and crouch for root zone, soil, and tree base inspections
• Ability to lift and carry up to 40 lbs occasionally (field gear, diagnostic tools)
• Ability to operate field equipment including measuring tools, GPS devices, tablets, and cameras
• Ability to drive regularly between multiple job sites and client meetings
• Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions year-round
• Ability to sit or stand for extended periods during office-based report writing and correspondence
• Tree climbing experience not required

Presence & Reporting Requirements

• Primary reporting location: Company office, Seattle, WA
• Hybrid role with alternating office (report writing, quality review, client correspondence) and field (site assessments, monitoring, construction oversight) work
• Field presence at client sites throughout the service area is essential; reliable personal transportation and a valid driver's license required
• Reports directly to the Director of Sales; participates in consulting team meetings, departmental planning, and leadership reviews
• Schedule may vary based on project complexity, permit deadlines, and client availability

Compensation & Benefits

• Base Salary: $100,000
• Performance-weighted compensation structure
