Sedgwick Land and Limb is seeking an experienced Landscape & Hardscape Field Operations Lead to oversee field operations and lead installation crews on landscape, hardscape, drainage, grading, and outdoor living projects throughout Western Pennsylvania.
This is not a laborer position with a leadership title.
We are looking for a proven field professional who can independently lead projects, direct crews, maintain quality standards, solve problems, and represent the company professionally with clients.
Our work includes landscape installations, drainage solutions, grading, retaining walls, outdoor living spaces, tree planting, and specialty projects requiring craftsmanship, professionalism, and attention to detail.

What You'll Be Responsible For
Leadership
- Lead daily field operations on landscape, hardscape, drainage, grading, and outdoor living projects
- Direct and mentor crew members
- Promote a culture of safety, professionalism, and accountability
- Maintain production goals while ensuring quality workmanship
- Assist in developing future crew leaders
Project Execution
- Read plans, layouts, and project specifications
- Perform site layout and field measurements
- Install landscape, drainage, grading, and hardscape projects
- Coordinate materials, equipment, and jobsite logistics
- Ensure projects are completed according to company standards
- Maintain organized and professional jobsites
Equipment Operation & Maintenance
- Operate compact equipment safely and efficiently
- Operate trucks and trailers
- Perform routine equipment inspections
- Perform preventative maintenance tasks
- Troubleshoot minor equipment, trailer, and tool issues in the field
- Identify maintenance concerns before they become failures
Client Experience
- Communicate professionally with clients on active jobsites
- Answer basic project questions
- Notify management of potential scope changes or client concerns
- Represent Sedgwick Land and Limb in a professional manner at all times
Required Qualifications
Applicants should possess the majority of the following qualifications:
- Minimum 5 years of landscape, hardscape, excavation, construction, or related field experience
- Minimum 2 years of crew leadership experience
- Experience leading crews in an outdoor production environment
- Ability to independently manage assigned projects
- Experience installing landscape and hardscape projects
- Experience with grading and drainage work
- Ability to read plans and perform field layout
- Experience operating compact equipment
- Experience towing and maneuvering trailers
- Ability to perform routine equipment inspections, preventative maintenance, and basic equipment troubleshooting
- Strong problem-solving skills
- Strong communication skills
- Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record
Preferred Qualifications
While not required, the following qualifications are highly valued:
- Class A or Class B CDL
- Industry certifications in hardscape, masonry, drainage, excavation, landscape construction, or related trades
- Degree or formal education in Horticulture, Landscape Contracting, Landscape Design, Construction Management, or a related field
- Advanced knowledge of plant identification, plant health, and horticultural best practices
- Advanced hardscape installation experience, including paver systems, segmental retaining walls, natural stone, and outdoor living features
- Experience leading multiple crews or managing multiple active projects simultaneously
- Bilingual (English/Spanish)

This role requires an experienced field professional capable of leading projects, making field decisions, solving problems, and directing crews without constant supervision.
