Experienced Arborist Ground Technician
Join a Professional Tree Care Team
Sedgwick Land and Limb is seeking an experienced Arborist Ground Technician to support tree removals, pruning operations, plant health care activities, and arboricultural services throughout Western Pennsylvania.
This is not an entry-level position.
We are seeking experienced tree care professionals who understand the demands of production tree work and can contribute immediately to safe and efficient operations. The ideal candidate has experience working around climbers, aerial lifts, rigging systems, chainsaws, and wood chippers and is committed to maintaining the highest standards of safety and professionalism.
Our crews perform a wide variety of tree care services, including pruning, removals, storm damage response, plant health care, and specialty projects utilizing modern equipment and industry best practices.

Compensation
- $24.00-$28.00 per hour based upon experience, capability, CDL status, and tree industry experience

What You'll Be Responsible For
Tree Crew Operations
- Assist with tree removals and pruning operations
- Process brush and wood utilizing chippers and other equipment
- Manage ropes, rigging equipment, and work zones
- Maintain safe and efficient ground operations
- Assist climbers and aerial lift operators
- Perform cleanup and site restoration activities
Equipment Operation
- Operate chainsaws, chippers, stump grinders, mini skid steers, and related equipment as qualified
- Perform routine equipment inspections
- Assist with preventative maintenance and basic troubleshooting
- Maintain equipment and tools in safe working condition
Safety Responsibilities
- Maintain awareness of work zone hazards
- Follow ANSI, OSHA, and company safety procedures
- Assist with traffic and pedestrian control when necessary
- Support safe rigging and lowering operations
Client Experience
- Interact professionally with clients and the public
- Maintain clean and organized jobsites
- Represent Sedgwick Land and Limb professionally at all times
Required Qualifications
Applicants should possess the majority of the following qualifications:
- Minimum 2 years of professional tree service experience
- Experience working on a professional tree care crew
- Experience operating wood chippers safely
- Experience supporting rigging operations during removals and pruning
- Experience assisting climbers and/or aerial lift operators
- Experience operating chainsaws safely
- Ability to identify and maintain safe work zones
- Strong understanding of tree crew safety practices
- Ability to perform physically demanding outdoor work in varying weather conditions
- Reliable transportation
- Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record
- Ability to safely tow, maneuver, and back trailers in residential and commercial environments
- Strong work ethic and commitment to professionalism
Preferred Qualifications
While not required, the following qualifications are highly valued:
- CDL or ability to obtain one
- ISA Certified Tree Worker, ISA Certified Arborist, or related industry certification
- Experience with advanced rigging systems and technical removals
- Experience operating compact equipment
- ISA Certified Tree Worker or related industry certifications
- Experience serving as Lead Groundsman on production tree crews
- First Aid/CPR certification
- Bilingual (English/Spanish)
