Keep the land that protects a region's drinking water healthy and safe

Newport News Waterworks is a regional water provider, owned and operated by the City of Newport News, serving more than 410,000 people across Hampton, Newport News, Poquoson, York County, and part of James City County. • Maintain pipeline easements and watershed areas — clearing vegetation and debris, controlling erosion, and keeping meter/valve areas, fire trails, streams, dams, and outfalls clear
  • Perform reservoir maintenance, including copper sulfate application and oil boom upkeep
  • Operate and maintain equipment safely, watching for overhead lines, traffic, and underground utilities
  • Run routine checks and preventive maintenance, and report equipment problems

What you bring

  • High school diploma, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • A valid driver's license with an acceptable record
  • Willingness to work outdoors in varying conditions and do moderately heavy physical work (lifting up to 20–50 lbs)
