Production Manager
The Production Manager owns everything that happens in the field: crew performance, route efficiency, quality standards, and labor cost. You are the link between what we promise clients and what our crews deliver. This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who knows that landscape maintenance is won or lost on labor hours, route density, and site-level accountability.
This role comes with a company vehicle (take-home) and real room for growth as our operation scales.
Core Responsibilities
Crew & Labor Management
- Direct supervision of maintenance crews and foremen; hiring, training, coaching, and performance management
- Build and manage daily/weekly crew schedules and routes to maximize wrench time and minimize drive time
- Own labor hours vs. budget by route and by account; flag and fix overruns weekly
- Enforce start times, load-out standards, and end-of-day close-out procedures
- Track and report daily labor performance: actual vs. estimated hours by crew, and $ earned per person/day on Tree/Enhancement/Irrigation crews
- Manage attendance, timekeeping, and time-off requests; maintain accurate, signed timecard records in coordination with HR
Quality & Site Accountability
- Conduct scheduled site inspections using company inspection forms; score sites, document deficiencies with photos, and assign corrective work with deadlines
- Perform joint walks with property managers and HOA boards; close the loop on client punch lists
- Identify enhancement and extra-work opportunities during inspections and hand off qualified leads to sales
Operations & Systems
- Maintain job costing, scheduling, and crew data in our operations platform (Aspire experience strongly preferred)
- Manage equipment fleet: preventive maintenance schedules, repairs, replacement planning; oversee vehicle and PPE inspection compliance
- Manage irrigation program: controller checks, break repairs, water management for client budgets
Safety & Compliance
- Enforce safety program: tailgate meetings, PPE, vehicle inspections, incident reporting
- Ensure compliance with California wage-and-hour requirements (meal/rest breaks, timekeeping) and Cal/OSHA standards
What Success Looks Like
- Direct labor as a % of maintenance revenue at or below target
- Every account inspected on cadence with documented scores; deficiency close-out rate above 90%
- Client retention improved; zero accounts lost due to quality
- Enhancement leads generated from field inspections each month
Qualifications
- 5+ years in commercial landscape maintenance operations, with 2+ years managing multiple crews
- Bilingual English/Spanish strongly preferred
- Working knowledge of irrigation systems, plant health, and SoCal plant material
- Experience with landscape business software (Aspire, LMN, or similar)
- Valid CA driver's license and clean driving record
- QAL/QAC license or C-27 experience a plus
Compensation & Benefits
- $85,000–$120,000/year base salary (depending on experience)
